Japan, Radiation, Cars and You
:: As we are all aware two natural disasters struck Japan on Mar 11, 2011 and devastated the area and cost many lives, destroyed homes, and businesses. We should all have sympathy for the Japanese people. Unfortunately the longest lasting and farthest reaching problem is that of radiation leakage from the TEPCO owned Fukushima Daiichi reactors, a result of the natural disasters.
The radiation that leaked from those plants was originally thought to have affected 1 prefecture (state) in Japan, but the latest information is 6 prefectures. Read the rest of this entry »

So what’s with the unromantic numeric-alphabet-soup name — MP4-12C? Well, the first part has its origins in the merger of Bruce McLaren’s original Formula One team and Ron Dennis’s Project Four Racing team in 1980 (and ironically, we spent a lot of time at the spectacular Goodwood Motor Circuit — enjoying its delightfully hospitable Lord March and a host a wonderful historic car distractions — without any mention of the painful memory that Bruce McLaren himself died there in 1970). 2010 Nissan Maxima Diesel – Auto Shows – Car and Driver
Renault unveiled a 3.0-liter diesel V-6 in Frankfurt that Nissan has confirmed will indeed make its way to the U.S. under the hoods of Nissan
, with 2010 as the target sale date. Although specifics such as power and torque are not yet available, Nissan tells us the engine will meet stringent Tier 2 Bin 5 emissions standards and will be certified for sale in all 50 states.
When Car and Driver editor-in-chief Csaba Csere spoke with Nissan boss at the 2007 Detroit auto show about Nissan’s plans for fuel-efficient cars, Ghosn stated that he saw diesels and continuously variable transmissions leading the way in efficiency in the immediate future.
