(NC)-Thousands of Canadians die every year in motor vehicle collisions because of failure to use or install safety equipment properly.
Follow these tips from Transport Canada for a safer ride for you and your family.
Seat Belts
. Buckle your seat belt, making sure the latch clicks firmly into place.
Adjust the lap belt so that it fits snugly across your hips and make sure the shoulder belt fits snugly across your chest and over your shoulder.
. Never wear your shoulder belt under your arm. In a collision, your upper body will pivot forward and your head will strike the vehicle interior. The belt will press into your abdomen and likely cause serious or even fatal injuries to internal organs. Read the rest of this entry »

Keep your Eyes on the Road
One of the most important things about driving safely is keeping your eyes on the road.
Of course you can’t see in all directions at the same time, but knowing what’s going on around you will definitely keep you on the right side of the law and out of scrapes with other cars.
In driving school, they teach us to always check our blind spots with a quick turn of the head when wanting to change lanes or to be conscious of the cars around us, but too many accidents on our roads are caused when a driver’s awareness of other vehicles is compromised. MINI make its point on World Rally return
After an absence of more than 40 years, MINI have made an impressive return to the World Rally Championship with sixth place on Rally Italy.
Dani Sordo brought his MINI John Cooper Works WRC car home in sixth place after three days on the island of Sardinia, a result that gave him eight Championship points and confidence for the rest of the season.
Sordo, who was driving his first WRC event since Wales Rally GB last November, said: “I am happy to finish, the car is good and so is the team.
“I think the weekend was very positive and after many kilometres on the rally we have learnt more about the car, which is important. Also the team has taken a lot of data and are now working hard for the future.”
